Called to Courage….

This week in our scripture we hear again the story of Moses calling from God to release God’s people. Many of us might remember Moses’ hesitancy in this calling. Throughout the story we also see the Israelite’s themselves who struggle to truly accept their new found freedom.

This week as we venture into Exodus 2 we are called to courage. We are reminded that as God calls us to be courageous God does not call us to do so alone but goes with us every step of the way! We are also reminded that it is only with God’s help and trusting in God that we are able to obtain true freedom in our lives.

Someone else who knew something about courage and its outcome, freedom, was Amelia Earhart. Enjoy this poem written by the famous pilot as you navigate your week and reach towards courage and freedom.

Courage is the price which life exacts for granting peace.
The soul that knows it not, knows no release
From little things;

Knows not the livid loneliness of fear
nor mountain heights, where bitter joy can hear
The sound of wings.

How can life grant us boon of living, compensate
For dull gray ugliness and pregnant hate
Unless we dare

The soul’s dominion? Each time we make a choice we pay
With courage to behold resistless day
And count if fair.
