Have you ever seen someone trying to carry too many things? Above is a boy pictured trying to hold onto too many toys!
We know in order to really enjoy one he will have to let some others go.
The same is true as we mature in most aspects of our lives.
This week in worship we will focus on the book of Joshua. Joshua led Israel after Moses died. The book of Joshua highlights stories such as the story of Rahab who risked her life for Israelite spies and Achan who made the dreadful choice of taking some of the Lord’s treasure.
The book of Joshua is really about people discerning and deciding what is worth holding onto and what they let go.
Our memory verse for the coming week is, “Choose this day who you will serve.” Joshua 24:15.
This verse speaks to the discernment involved for every person and especially us who are Christians.
Who we will serve determines our priorities and daily decisions.
In order to keep ourselves grounded and our priorities straight we each must decide every morning who we will serve.
Today commit your day to God.
Think about what it means to live and make decisions based on choosing to serve God.
Would this change how you might go about your day? Do you think you can do it?
Ask God for strength today to continually choose to serve God and know when you do a small piece of heaven is found on earth!
See you on Sunday!
