Leaving the Light On!

Do you leave the lights on at night?

Everyone is different. Some leave a bathroom light on, while others have night lights.

At my house, I have always had the rule to leave just one light on throughout the night.

Too many lights can make the house too bright and the light can even be seen in bedrooms, but one light provides the exact amount of light I might need to walk through the darkness, to get what I need.

With one light on I can walk without fear of tripping. With one light on I can see the area I need to go and I am assured that no one else has entered. With one light on I do not need to be afraid.

This week Psalms 27:1 is part of our weekly readings. The Psalmists writes one of my favorite verses,

27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”

We all have many things to fear daily, not only the dark. Yet, I have found that much like the dark, I can walk through the darkness of life without fear with only one light, Christ.

We all have had weeks, months and maybe even years where it appears as if all has gone wrong. Even in those weeks’ months and years, if we let Christ be our light; we can get through it all.

I hope today we each can hold onto Christ and know that Christ is holding onto us.

We have nothing to fear today because Christ is with us!

See you on Sunday!
