How many of you all were made to write “thank you” cards when you grew up?
If so, you were not alone. I, too, wrote many “thank you” cards and still try to keep up with saying, “thank you!”
In scripture we find some “thank you” letters of sorts.
The author Paul begins his letter to the church in Philippi with the following words,
“Every time I think of you I thank God for you. I have joy in my heart every time I ask God to help you. I thank God for the joy we share in telling the good news from the very first day until now.” Philippians 1:3-5
Paul thanks the church in Philippi for their work and tells them of the joy in doing ministry together with them and sharing in the good news with them.
This Thanksgiving morning this is the verse that came to my mind as I was thinking about the things I am thankful for in my life.
I am thankful for you each of you and the joy it is to do ministry with you!
This past year has been hard at times for our church. There have been many highs and many lows but in the midst of it all each of you have continued to find joy in ministry and the work we do together!
Today, know that you are loved and appreciated by me, your church and most of all by God!
As we make our gratitude list may we also remember people are giving thanks for us. The homeless that eat each week give thanks for you! The youth and children you serve give thanks for you! The church members who have prayer request that you lift up give thanks for you!
Each of you are a gift from God, for God and for the world!
I am blessed to be your pastor and give thanks for each of you today!
See you on Sunday!
