If you have joined us for worship the last three weeks you know we have just finished up the first book of the Bible in our 31-week sermon series, Grounded.
If you would like to know more about this strange book we call the Bible, join us! We are all learning A LOT!
As we finished the first book of the Bible, I noticed a theme found in chapter 1 of Genesis and chapter 50 of Genesis (the last chapter.)
The similarities are found in our memory verses for each of these different weeks.
Week 1: “And God saw all that he had created, and look, it was very good.” Genesis 1:31
Week 3: “What one man intends as evil against you, God will use it for the good.” Genesis 50:21
A word that we see in both scriptures is the word, “good”. The Hebrew uses the word, “טוב” or “tobh”.
From chapter 1 to chapter 50 in Genesis, we see at God who is working all things for the good!
The book of Genesis has its ups and downs- creation and destruction- building and betrayal. YET through all of it, God always was working for the good.
Paul affirms this in Romans 8 where he says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Today, you might be on the upswing or you very well might be on a downswing…wherever you are – have no doubt about where God is…God is at work using all things for the good!
Today, may we each put our trust AND our hope in God’s goodness!
See you on Sunday!
