“Vía Crucis del Migrante” — Remembering the Plight of Migrants during Lent

On Display: February 2026 - April 2026
Opening Reception: Ash Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Followed by processional protest to the U.S. Immigration Court)

El Vía Crucis del Migrante features 14 new iterations of Jose Luis Soto and Rev. Dr. Audrey Warren’s original stations of the cross that underscore the experiences of refugees and migrants in 2011.

Curated in response to current policies and practices that aggressively disrupt the lives of immigrants in the United States,  this exhibition reminds Christians during the Lenten season of their duty to be in deep solidarity with those who are facing the road of suffering just as Jesus did.

Through incorporating images of the current refugee crisis in the United States, viewers are invited to meditate on the experiences of migrants and pray for changes in policy.

This installation is funded by First Church Miami in collaboration with the Florida Immigration Law and Justice Center. The exhibition, opening on February 18, 2026, includes an interfaith protest against the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement with a march from First Church Miami to the U.S. Immigration Court in Downtown Miami. This march is held in partnership with Engage Miami, Catalyst Miami, Jewish Voices for Peace South Florida, Imam Abdul Hamid Samra, St. John’s on the Lake United Methodist Church, American Friends Service Committee, Coral Gables United Church of Christ, Semillas Colombia, Florida Immigrant Coalition, and Corner Coffee Miami.

SPARROW ” — A Miami Art Week 2025 Exhibition Honoring Purvis Young

On Display: December 2025 - February 2026
Opening Reception: Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (Limited Tickets - Click Here to Register)

The Fifth and Biscayne Micro Gallery proudly presents SPARROW, a community-centered Art Week exhibition honoring legendary Black Miami artist Purvis Young.

SPARROW features street photography by Blue, Chris, Timeless Jubilee, Reese, and Thor—local photographers navigating homelessness—under the artistic direction of Miami-based artist Christopher Mitchell. Drawing its name from the Cape Sable seaside sparrow, an endangered bird native to South Florida, SPARROW embodies themes of fragility, endurance, and quiet resilience. The exhibition captures the overlooked rhythms of Miami’s urban life through the lens of those often unseen within it.

Curated by high school students Alford Archer, Hannah Cabrera, Cade Hardy, and Shayna Lewertow, SPARROW was developed at First Church Miami, where the Micro Gallery operates inside the church’s coffee shop. The exhibition presents photographs taken on disposable cameras by unhoused members of The Breakfast Club, a ministry of First Church Miami that has served the Downtown community for over 40 years. This exhibition is made possible by funding by The Center of Religion and Culture at Flagler College.
